The stars came out for the Pre-Oscar festivities and to celebrate Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine’s Oscar edition featuring Tom Hanks at the Sofitel Beverly Hills.
I had the opportunity to speak with the beautiful actress Elisabeth Rohm from the Oscar nominated film “American Hustle.” She looked glamorous in her shimmering, golden halter dress designed by David Meister. I asked her how it felt to be in such an outstanding film. She told me that she felt very privileged, “A lot of incredible people are in the film. It’s a very strong ensemble. It’s nice to be in a family.” I wanted to know how it was to work with Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. She said, “They are both so vibrant and unbridled creative spirits.” She then good naturedly laughed and continued with, “It’s just a lot of fun to be quite honest. It’s not a tough job.”
Mckinley Freeman of VH1’s “Hit the Floor” told me he decided to come out for the festivities in order, “to celebrate the career of Tom Hanks, and also to support all the great things the magazine is doing.” I asked him how he felt about the Oscar weekend and he said, “It’s like Christmas for actors. It’s like an opportunity for us to take a step back and appreciate the work that people do in front of the camera and behind the camera.”
There was an Oscar buzz in the room about how great the films are this year. The effervescent and stunning actress Breeda Wool (from “Betas” and “Unreal”) had an interesting perspective. “I think that there is a lot of indie influenced movies that are out this year… I think that with everything moving to internet television that people are really figuring out what it is that they like, so you can have this dose of really big studio movie, and then you can have a dose of ‘House of Cards’ or something that’s exactly what you want in terms of film and television. People are getting turned on by indie films and indie TV.”
Fashion is always an important part of the Oscars. Celebrity stylist Brad Kearns said for this year’s Oscars that, “Everyone’s going to go back to classic.” He said that meant, “a lot of sequence, a lot of tapered, and a lot of black. I’ve seen some red and a lot of mint.” For hair it means, “A lot of pulled back sleek looks.”
TV personality and host Kyle Keller said that she can’t wait to see what Lupita Nyong’o will be wearing on the red carpet. “She (Nyong’o) has become the ‘it’ girl this award season. She always has these clean lines, but she’s not afraid to choose a pop of color with an edge. For me, she is perfection,” said Keller. She added that she always loves Cate Blanchett, “For me, she can do no wrong. Ever.”
Whichever movie, actor, or actress you are rooting for, this year’s Academy Awards will be unforgettable.
